The Brazos River Authority has installed a new, temporary ramp at Possum Kingdom Lake’s West Side Park, across the reservoir from BRA’s other public use areas.
The new ramp restores boat access to the park for the first time since the permanent ramp was closed due to low water levels from the drought. The now-open temporary ramp is covered by 4 feet of water at its end.
West Side Park is also accessible by land via FM 1148 near Elm Creek. In addition, the park features a courtesy dock, which sits in water more than 7-feet deep, as well as camping and picnic sites and a hiking trail. Rest room facilities are closed for the winter to prevent pipes from freezing
With the ramp’s opening, BRA has four public boat ramps in operation at its PK public areas. The other ramps are available at the North D&D, South D&D and Scenic Cove public areas. Another ramp, the Public Low Water Ramp off FM 2951, remains closed while it undergoes renovations.
