Can You Swim at Possum Kingdom Lake?
Yes, you most certainly can swim at Possum Kingdom Lake. Here is some information on the best places to swim and enjoy the beaches at Possum Kingdom Lake.
The northern portion of Possum Kingdom Lake is wide open, while the southern side consists of miles of windy snake-like arms. Most of the swim beaches are located on the southern side.
Possum Kingdom State Park - Southwest
This beach in the Possum Kingdom State Park has beautiful clear water and views, but do watch out for some rocky areas in the water at the swim beaches.
Sandy Beach-Southern Side of Northern Arm
Sandy Beach is also known as BRA #6, and is historically busy during the summer months. It has covered picnic tables, rest rooms, and a roped off swimming area. This is a large beach on a peninsula with lots of covered picnic tables. Admission is free except between June 28th and July 7th, along with a camping fee during the summer months.
Turtle Beach-North Side of Southern Arm
Turtle Beach has a kid-safe, roped off swimming area. It is not as big or as crowded during peak season as the other popular beaches on Possum Kingdom Lake.
BRA #1 - Northern Side of Southern Arm
BRA #1 is a small park for camping and swimming and free to use year round. It has covered picnic tables and grills. The swimming beach is nice, clean, and isolated.
Willow Beach RV Park and Marina-Eastern Side
Willow Beach is only available to campers and has a very nice beach with beautiful views. This is an older park, but nicely maintained.
