The Possum Lake's famous firework show at Hell's Gate is planned for Saturday July 3, 2021.

If you are anywhere around or planning to visit Possum Kingdom Lake, the spectacular fireworks are a must-see attraction on Independence Day.

Possum Kingdom Lake, also known as short as PK Lake, is a popular destination for Fourth of July festivities and fireworks displays over the lake water. The lake gets an estimated three million visitors every year. It is located 80 miles west of Fort Worth, Texas.

It is also a huge lake covering close to 20,000 acres and with a shoreline of 310 miles. The lake boasts of five public boat ramps, picnicking areas, fishing piers, and more than 400 campsites. There are plenty of places to see the fireworks show.

Fireworks Show at Hell's Gate

If you want to celebrate the nation's day of freedom with a spectacular display of fireworks that you will live to remember, Hell’s Gate at Possum Kingdom Lake is the place to be. The event is made possible through donations from generous individuals as well as the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce.

Hell's Gate is a popular party area on Lake PK. It is also the venue of one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in Texas on July 4th Weekend.

The area is defined by two big cliffs standing as a gate to a Cove on Lake PK's south end tip. In summer people bring their boats for relaxation and party. The place is expected to be filled with boats on Independence Day Weekend so get there early to book your spot in the cove.

Most of the locals as well as visitors from all over Texas flock to Hell's Gate for the fireworks show. The unique fireworks display is a one-of-a-kind show that you only need to see to believe. You can view it on the water, or from shore at the YMCA camp.

Cliff Diving Competition

Besides fireworks, Hell's Gate is also known for cliff diving competitions, especially on the July 4th weekend.

The cove is surrounded by huge cliffs, which make it perfect for cliff diving in summer. However, keep in mind and cliff diving is illegal in Hell's Gate for the most part of the year to avoid accidents.

So, if you want to participate in, or simply watch the cliff diving competition, make a point of visiting Hell's Gate on Independence Day.
