Rawhide Vistas, a place of new horizons

Rawhide Vistas is a place of new horizons. It is the newest project in Gaines Bend on Possum Kingdom Lake. Rawhide Vistas features four architecturally designed home options, each one unique, and carefully crafted to perfection. Tim Hester, partner in Rawhide Vistas, stated that there are upgrade features available for these homes such as Bosch appliances and hand scrapped wood floors. Anyone that purchases one of the designer homes will be able to use it as a vacation rental property. According to Shawn Gibson, partner in Rawhide Vistas, the vacation rental homes market is untapped here at Possum Kingdom Lake. Neeley's Vista, a 3200 square foot home, boasts some of the best views on Possum Kingdom Lake. An open floorplan and unobstructed lake views are just two of the features that make Neeley's Vistas our premier home. Contact the folks at Rawhide Vistas for pricing on these spectacular homes. The Brazos Ranch House, a single story, 2400 square foot home, features beautiful interior stonework and an open floorplan that takes full advantage of the breath taking views from atop the bluffs of Neeley's Slough. Construction on the first Brazos Ranch House is complete and ready for you to move in for only $499,000. As a bonus, this home has been outfitted with several of the available upgrades. The Ridgecrest Lodge features a two story, 2200 square foot open floorplan. The second floor living area and patio take full advantage of the amazing views of Possum Kingdom Lake. Construction of the first Ridgcrest Lodge is expected to be complete by November 2012. Pricing for these beautiful homes begin at $449,000. The Prairie Cabin is a fantastic 1800 square foot, two story home. The second story allows for lake views of Possum Kingdom. The Prairie Cabin is perfect for the PK lifestyle with attractive pricing beginning at $399,000. Planned amenities in Rawhide Vistas include a pool complex, guest cabins and common areas. Other amenities in Gaines Bend include a marina, planned network of hiking and biking trails and 200 acres of planned parks and green space. The master plan for Gaines Bend consists of nearly 800 new home sites, condominiums and town homes. With a low density orientation, homes will be situated on lots with an average size of .5 ace with abundant green spaces. That equates to roughly one home per acre. Rawhide Vistas is phase one of this master plan. When you think about Possum Kingdom Lake think of reveling in the outdoors and a multitude of lake activities - boating, swimming, fishing, paddle boarding, hiking, biking and exploring or even sitting on the veranda with a glass of wine enjoying a relaxing evening. The views from atop the bluffs on the quiet and calm Neeley's Sough are like no other. Rawhide Vistas gives the very best of what Gaines Bend and Possum Kingdom has to offer, with a value and lifestyle that is second to none.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 24)

FAIR. Water stained; 82 degrees; 1.19 feet below pool. Stripers are slow to fair with live bait in 20-40 feet of water. Put your baits down in areas that you have marked fish recently and slowly move around with your trolling motor. You will bump into smaller schools of fish, but it will take patience while you wait for a bite. Sand bass are m fair to good moving quickly in 20-25 feet of water on main lake points and sand flats. Chrome and white seem to be out producing all other colors. Catfish are still fair to good with shad in 10-20 feet of water fished on the bottom. Baited holes are your best bet to catch numbers but will not produce big fish. Bait with cattle cubes and wait 2-3 hours before fishing. Use punch bait for best results on baited holes. Catfish should be spawning, so expect a slower bite. Water clarity is 2-6 feet of visibility but slowly becoming clearer. Report by TJ Ranft, Ranft Guide Service. This week has been a warm week, which has caused the bite to slow a bit. The fish are still moving fast. Water temperature is in the high seventies with 3-4 foot visibility. The striper and white bass are hitting topwater in the early morning and late afternoon. Fish are stacking up on shallow points in 10–20 feet, with sporadic surface feeding early and late when there is a little wind. Fish are feeding on very small shad so downsize your swimbaits, slabs and topwater baits. The eating-size 1–3 pound catfish bite is absolutely on fire. Limits are coming in fast, often within just a few hours, using punch baits and dip baits. For channels and blues, baited holes in 20–25 feet near points and flats are paying off. The crappie bite has picked up nicely. Minnows are the go-to in 12–20 feet of water around structures and brush. Largemouth bass are crushing topwater at first light, then shifting to shallow crankbaits around dock legs as the sun climbs. Shaky heads are producing steady catches as well. Once the sun gets higher, a Texas-rigged worm fished in 15–2
