Zebra Mussel status updated on two lakes

Two central Texas lakes have received upgraded classifications for invasive zebra mussels as a result of statewide sampling by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Inland Fisheries staff and partner agencies. Lake Austin’s classification has been upgraded to infested,
Lady Bird Lake has been upgraded to suspect, meaning zebra mussels or their larvae have been found at least once

Fishing Report from TPWD (Mar. 12)

FAIR. Water stained; 57 degrees; 0.32 feet below pool. Stripers are slow to fair and should start to pick up. Live bait is still putting fish in the boat each trip, but the fish are still super scattered in 30-50 feet of water.sand bass are fair to good in creeks, but slowing down in the main lake. Fish should be up in the creeks getting ready to spawn. Use live shad or small jigs and rattle traps when in the creeks. Catfish are still fair to good with cut shad in 2-5 feet of water or 20-30 feet of water fished on the bottom. Water clarity is steady at 1-8 feet of visibility and slightly stained. Report by TJ Ranft, Ranft Guide Service.
